Have you ever wondered how Santa Klaus met Mrs. Klaus? Michelle Erickson brings readers a delightful story of a princess and a carpenter.
Eralee's father is a River King and her mother is a Queen. They live in the forest of Everaude, a world filled with immortals and the Rashim (deer). Her parents planned a marriage for her to a river prince. She had no desire to marry him. When she saw a human freezing to death in the woods, she wanted to save him, although it was forbidden by her people.
The reader watches as Klaus and Eralee fall in love. Throughout this enchanted story the reader learns the answers to many Santa questions. The reader also meets several incredible secondary characters such as Dasher, Dancer and Vixen. Erickson explains why reindeer can fly and why their antlers glow. Eralee refused to give up the man she loves, no matter the cost.
Erickson combines romance, adventure, suspense, and humor to create one of the best Christmas tales I've ever read. Eralee's antics were very funny and her innocence was extremely heartwarming. This book will become a family favorite. I can see this tale making it to TV as a Christmas special. I highly recommend Klaus for the whole family...
Eralee is a misfit among immortals.

Many surprises and the author captured all of our Christmas spin off tales and made this into a fun believe able story of unending love and why we have a Santa Claus. Most of our Christmas customs braided together to give understanding of flying reindeer and the man who passes out toys to all of our good little boys and girls. I loved this book and would recommend this to everyone who believes in our Christmas customs. A real joy to read with a very happy ending.Can't remember if this was a gift or if I bought this book but I happily give my honest review for a great seasonal book to get us into the Spirit of Christmas giving.

I totally loved this book! It was the first book I ever read of Michelle Erickson and I am so happy I did! I love Christmas and the stories and songs and folklore that it had, but I wish to have dived into the history of Santa, how he came to be, were the elves came from, how the reindeer can fly? And more questions as a child I wish was answered and explored and so much more, and to my greatest joy Michelle Erickson delivered those answers and more! Once I started reading this book I was hooked, I couldn’t put it down and to stop reading, even rereading parts! I was so entranced! I normally am not a book reader, but this book had me interested, and I was never disappointed! I squealed in delight on the references and things that I loved revealed in the book, me speculating before things were revealed thinking I had things figured out only to be put in a loop of shock and going speechless at how I was proven wrong at my ideas of certain characters introduced. Which I liked, it didn’t make the certain characters predicable and too obvious, it was something new, and I liked-no! Loved it! If you wanna know what I went through to have such a shock read it for yourself! If you don’t you are missing out on this fantastic amazing new edition to wonderful Christmas stories that will be read and treasured for generations to come!!! This is coming from a girl who stayed up till four in the morning because I couldn’t sleep until I finished the book to see the ending to this fantastic book!
What a lovely story! All the childhood tales are expanded on and explained in a way that seemed real and natural and I found myself believing in Santa once again. Enchanting!
What a joy it was to read a fun, clean, romantic story that gives answers to all of the questions we may have about Santa. From why his reindeer fly, to why his suit is red. It explains why he lives in the North Pole and what made him decide to make toys. There are many creatures in this story, like elves and sprites and abominable snow monsters and I was enchanted by all of them. Eralee, who is part Dryad and part water nymph, is Klaus's one true love, but she is immortal and Klaus is mortal. Immortals are forbidden to even associate with humans, let alone marry them. Bring in the Snow witch who also is vying for Klaus's affections, and you have a great conflict.

I enjoyed this telling of how Santa came to be thoroughly. It's a completely different take on the story, and it's truly magical. Beautifully written, well told, a delightfully new creation legend for one of the most important myths we have in our lives today. Santa's as real as we let him be...he's the spirit of love and giving we use most often to teach our children about the importance of being true to our best selves. Thank you, Michelle, for an amazing and wonderful new creation story!
I loved this book! It was romantic and fun and entertaining! Maybe Michelle Erickson should consider writing a follow up to this book. You know everyone would love to see where you take their romance from here! Just a thought. Great holiday book and I would recommend to everyone who loves a little Christmas magic in their book!
The book is well written, and while there are a few typos there aren't enough to distract from the story. The main complaint I have is that reading the story, I felt like the author had taken nearly all of the holiday themed Rankin-Bass animated specials and combined them into one to create her story. The result was very entertaining, but even with all the little background details that she added in, it doesn't feel like an original story to me. It was just too closely tied with the holiday specials I grew up watching to feel original. Regardless, it was a fun read.
Lovely story. It ties together many of the threads from the Christmas classic tales and characters Santa and Mrs. Claus, Rudolph and the other reindeer, the Abominable Snowman, the elves, Jack Frost, etc. My only real complaints are regarding punctuation (-s is plural; -'s is possessive; -s' is plural possessive; and when someone is addressed in speech, there's supposed to be a comma before or after the name, as required, e.g, 'Hello, Karen, nice to see you.") and homophone choice ("baited breath" means your breath smells of, well, bait, like worms or minnows; "bated breath" means you're waiting anxiously). That said, I didn't deduct points for such mistakes, although I normally do--which tells you how much I enjoyed the tale!
